Washington

Tuesday Morning we woke up to a couple inches of snow on the ground, so we headed down the mountain a couple miles to the no snow zone. There was a heavy fog, so we did not get a clear view of Mount St Helens. We then decided to head to the furthest north, westerly point in the United States. Neah Bay is on the tip of Washington. The Pacific is on one side, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca on the other. If I was going to see whales and seals, this would be the place. We camped on the Pacific side, on the beach. The kids enjoyed collecting shells. It was very cool and windy on Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday morning Randy and I Sat under a blanket on the beach, and enjoyed our morning cup of coffee. We had a persistent gull close by just in case we had any food to offer him. We stopped at the Marina on the way out of town and saw many seal/ sea lyon
In the water. We also saw a group of Bald Eagles on the beach eating fish. Randy and I were amazed to finally see that magnificent bird. The weather in Washington is weird. It seems to rain at will thru-out the day and the sun shines in the same way. The coast is not heavily commercialized; the terrain is mountainous and thick with forest. When you look across the strait you can see Vancouver, BC .We are starting our easterly track today. Our first stop will be Seattle. We are visiting the port, and infamous Pike’s Place
Fish market. (the place that throws fish) We are planning on having Salmon for lunch, and are visiting the 1st Starbucks. Our first blessing of the day was to find out we could take a ferry across the Puget Sound to the heart of Seattle and it will cost less than the gas to drive around the coast to get there. We were not able to find a salmon sandwich that we wanted, so the quest is still on for that, But we had a very good sandwich from this homemade cheese place, and Brandon had to try some Turkish Delight ( Narnia Movie ) it tasted like a softer version of fruit jellies covered with powdered sugar on it, and they had flavors like lemon, lime, rose, mango, raspberry and orange. The rose was a little weird to taste because it taste just like it smells. We visited a church and had some awesome Chinese food. That’s it for today.
