Lassen Volcanic National Park

Saturday morn we are on our way to Lassen Volcanic National Park. The Mountaintop blew in 1915, there are many lakes and streams, but is still considered an active volcano.

We found out that only 1 mile of the park road was open because they we still actively clearing snow and ice from the roads. The temperature reading 30 minutes from the park read 77 degrees All along the roadside there are large rocks that are brown and black, maybe remains from the last eruption, but you would think that in almost 100 years someone would have removed them from the land; it appears to be cattle grazing land now. Probably imagine it did not smell good. We then traveled to the other side of the mountain to the other entrance to see the area of devastation. We saw the most snow so far on the trip here.
